WRITER EDITOR WRITING COACH

Storytelling informs every aspect of my professional work as a writer, editor, and writing coach.

I’ve curated this sample of my work and accomplishments to convey the breadth of my experience as a storyteller and in the communications field. My passions for design, photography, and filmmaking have become part of my professional toolkit, enhancing my capacity for storytelling and underscoring the particular skills that come of working as a writer and editor for thirty years. Among them, an exacting eye for detail and acumen for research, for getting to the heart of any given subject.

I am available to work one-on-one with you as a writing coach and editor, to help you navigate the murky waters of self-publishing, and to provide other communications services, from writing press releases to designing your website, to doing legal research and advocacy. And I would love to offer my Dream Story Workshop at your event, retreat, or home gathering.

“Linda is sort of an alchemist editor. She does not take the reins and try to steer the carriage in some self-determined direction. Rather, she is like a well-honed filtration system. She takes my muddy, turbid writing, runs it through her system, and out comes crystal-clear prose. Her nonjudgmental approach, along with her expert skills and gifted insightfulness, set her apart as a champion editor.”

– Dr. Lisa Gilbert (soon-to-be-published author)

Food Now

My white paper, “Food Now,” explores the relationship between food security, soil practices, and climate mitigation. “The global scientific community sees climate change as an existential threat and the greatest challenge of the 21st century.”

Artistry in Stone

“They mark our place in history, structures of rock as daunting as the great pyramids of Egypt, as hauntingly beautiful as the Inuit inukshuk of the Canadian arctic, and as humbly elegant as the stone walls defining pastures and lining the roads of Martha’s Vineyard.”

ONLINE Newsletter

I worked as Communications Director for Common Good, a nonprofit fintech. As such, I designed, edited, and produced this digital newsletter, Common Goodness. I also created the short “docu-videos” that appear in the newsletter.

BA in Legal Studies

I returned to school in my fifties to achieve a BA in legal studies. I graduated UMass Amherst Class of 2020 summa cum laude with a 4.0 GPA. I received the Legal Studies Award for Excellence and the UMass Library Sustainability Research Award.

Linda intuitively knows how to customize, both visually and through the written word, the best way to present your business. … She attentively listens and fully embraces your vision, and then teams with you to craft exactly what you want to create.”

– Faith Burrington Jones (innerfaiththerapy.com | website designed by Linda)

The Beat Goes On

“Despite the ever-changing landscape of the Vineyard’s rock and folk music scene, there’s always live music to be found, both indoors and out, both in the summer and off-season.”

(Sidebar: I have to say that interviewing Carly Simon for this story was a career highlight.)

Conference Presenter

In my role as Communications Director for Common Good, I presented on the topic of “Using Sociocracy to Create & Direct Economic Resources at the Community Level” at the 4th Annual Sociocracy Global Conference. I led our four-person team through the design and creation of the presentation, and during the event.

Avalon Magazine

I was editor in chief and co-publisher of AVALON, a world-culture, arts, and lifestyle magazine celebrating humanity. AVALON is no longer in print, but we will be sharing some of our favorite stories and photo essays. So stay tuned!

UN General Assembly

I had a one-year contract with the UNDP to bring poets & rappers to the Global Meeting of Generations, a world conference in Washington DC in January of 1999. I performed my original spoken word at the conference, and later, at a UN General Assembly!

"We need to sit on the rim of the well of darkness and fish for fallen light with patience."

– Pablo Neruda
